Azurite is an Azure to dark blue secondary copper mineral that is frequently pseudomorphed to, (and found with), Malachite. Azurite is in the monoclinic crystal system, and has a Mohs hardness of around 3.5 to 4. Ground Azurite is used as a pigment because of it's vibrant color. Malachite is a copper carbonate hydroxide mineral frequently found pseudomorphed with Azurite.
This Azurite and Malachite specimen has a remarkable presence! The Azurite is exceptionally bright on this piece, and having formed right next to a gorgeous portion of Malachite, this is one unique specimen.
