Firework Obsidian is a relatively rare form of volcanic glass that displays stunning fireworks display of red, pink and white on a black background. Is a combination of Thompsonite and Obsidian.
Thompsonite was originally thought to be it's own mineral, but has since been identified as a variety of Zeolite. Obsidian is a variety of Igneous rock that forms when lava cools quickly. The growth pattern of both minerals together is called Firework Obsidian, as it often forms sprays reminiscent of fireworks.
